I am in the top 700 UEFA Cup Fantasy Football managers after the semi-finals. That cannot be bad out of more than 71,000! My team picked up 57 points in the second legs, which was a great haul. My captain Ivica Olić (Hamburger SV) showed why I chose him again – he was responsible for 20 of those points.

Transfers
I had quite a lot of Hamburg players in my team, so I have used up my free transfers to remove players who were eliminated in the semi-finals. Although I am backing Werder Bremen against FC Shakhtar Donetsk, they do not have too many high-scoring midfielders apart from Diego (who is suspended for the final), so there is quite a Ukrainian look to my midfield. Well, quite a Brazilian look actually – Mesut Özil (Bremen) is the only non-Brazilian in the middle of my team.

Sticking with three at the back
And there is another Brazilian at the back – Bremen's Naldo comes in, alongside his team-mate Sebastian Boenisch. These guys have great points totals, better than a lot of strikers', which is why I am happy to play three at the back rather than just two.

Restricted options going forward
I had already signed up Claudio Pizarro (Bremen), and apart from him there are not too many high-scoring strikers left to choose from. I have gone for Shakhtar's Luiz Adriano and Olexandr Gladkiy. As things are a bit thin up front, I have filled my midfield with exciting middlemen from both teams.

The armband
Ivica Olić served me very well, but now Hamburg have been knocked out, Jadson is my choice for captain.
